Palm Springs city hall, police, fire dept. to reopen to public June 1
Palm Springs will reopen its city hall, police and fire departments to the public beginning Tuesday, June 1. The decision comes amid declining COVID-19 cases in Riverside County and, according to the city, vaccination rates of more than 80% among Palm Springs residents over 12 years old.
Palm Springs City Hall, located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lobby of the Palm Springs Fire Department, located at 300 El Cielo Road, will be open the same hours.
The Palm Springs Police Department lobby at 200 S. Civic Drive will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
City staff and members of the public still will be required to wear masks in the city facilities until June 15. The city said physical distancing also will be required at shared counters and waiting stations.
Palm Springs will no longer require temperature checks to enter its facilities, although the city said the temperature check stations will still be available for people who want to use them.
The new guidelines will remain in place until June 15, according to the city, when the end of California’s tiered COVID-restriction system will lift most masking and social-distancing restrictions for fully vaccinated people.
